Minecraft 1.8 Update Released
Minecraft 1.8 - Update is finally ReleasedAfter Months of waiting Minecraft 1.8 has finally been released. Minecraft 1.8 has taken the Mojang team over 300 days to create and release and has had many snapshots and pre-releases. There is a huge list of changes and we are going to run through some of the major ones below. Firstly I will go through some of the new major blocks added to Minecraft
Granite, Andesite, and Diorite stone blocks, with smooth versions have been added to Minecraft. Below is a screenshot of what the blocks look like. These blocks add some great new colours and decorations to the game, perfect for building some great new structures and towns.
Slime Blocks, Iron Trapdoors and Sea Lanterns blocks have been added.
Prismarine blocks have been added. Prismarine is a stone like material / block that you can only find underwater in the ocean monuments. This block has several variants, including prismarine bricks and dark prismarine. Prismarine can be crafted by using 4 prismarine shards in the crafting table.
Red Sandstone and Coarse Dirt (dirt where grass won’t grow) blocks have been added.
Banners have been added.
Rabbits have been added. These also have item drops
Some other noteable things that have been added and changed are: Added Armor Stands, Guardian mobs, Endermite mobs, Mutton and Cooked Mutton. Villagers will harvest crops and plant new ones, Doors and fences now come in all wood type variants. A spectator game mode has been added. A “Customized” world type has been added and Worlds can now have a world barrier. Also a whole range of new commands have been added.

If you have Australian Minecraft Hosting and a Minecraft Server hosted with us all you need to do is restart the server in Multicraft, make sure you are running the default server type and your server should update to Minecraft 1.8.
The Minecraft 1.8 update is likely to see a revival in the game for a lot of Minecraft fans that are have been waiting for new content. I myself have started a new Minecraft 1.8 world on my private server and have just started testing out all these great new updates with some close friends.
